Kwe (Kway!) (Wampanoag for hello!)

We have learned so much about the Pilgrims and Native Americans from Mrs. Ake! We had a great time reading about their lives and learning words that they used. We even had fun interacting with the smart board again as we learned about the Wampanoag Tribe.

I just can’t believe we are this close to Thanksgiving! Next week is a short week! We will be doing plays during reading groups to help with our fluency. We will also be playing some fun games to review our math skills. The following Tuesday will be day 5 and we will be ready to dive back into our curriculum after our restful holiday!

I will not send home a newsletter next week. Have a wonderful weekend and a restful, joyful Thanksgiving! :)

Predictions and Pilgrims!

This week Mrs. Ake has been teaching the children lots of fun facts about Pilgrims. Next week we will learn about Native Americans. Please check out the cool link below for a website that explores the history of the first Thanksgiving. We had an opportunity this week to use the interactive smart board to explore this website and we will do it again next week as well.

We’ve been busy making good predictions about our stories. As you read with your child at home, ask him/her to predict what might happen next in the story. This is a great way to check your child’s comprehension.
Thank you all for coming in for conferences this week. It was a pleasure talking with all of you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
