Rain, rain go away!!

We had two very rainy days this week, so we had our first indoor recess experience!  The legos are a big hit!  We had a wonderful two rainy days despite being inside all that time!  What a neat group of kiddos we have!  :)

Well, the mealworms were the hit of the week!  Mrs. Ake helped the children make habitats for our new friends!  We’ll be busy scientists as we observe them change through their life cycles!  We’ve already seen some pupas!  We can hardly wait to see what will happen next.  :)

Have a wonderful weekend!  Please check out this week’s newsletter to see what else is happening in 1-B.

Full-Moon Friday!

Well, I was wondering why things were a bit goofy the last couple of days, and then Mrs. Ake reminded me that we had a full moon this week! I’m not sure how much truth there really is in that, but if you work with children, you know that things can sometimes get a bit silly around full moon time! :) Nonetheless, we have managed to have a most productive week! It is so nice to have the routine learning behind us and the curriculum well under way! I am so excited to get writing on our personal narratives! Next week we will be learning about nouns and verbs, so our narratives will have to wait a week, but I know they are going to be great once we get going!

Please ask your child about their science flip books! Mrs. Ake has done a wonderful job helping the children learn the characteristics of animal groups. Next week the insects arrive! No hints on what is coming, the kiddos will be in for a big treat on Wednesday! (As long as the mail cooperates and delivers them that day!)

Please remember to send in your child’s library book on Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Our First Full Week!

Wow! We finally had a 5 day school week. It was a busy week too as we moved away from learning routines for first grade and began diving into our curriculum. Please see our weekly newsletter for the details! See if your child remembers what topics he/she listed for the personal narrative we are going to write. Also, see if your child can tell you what a personal narrative is! (A true story that uses I, me, my).  I can hardly wait to begin our stories!

Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

Welcome to 1-B!

Welcome to my blog! I will post once a week with a short paragraph about how things are going. For specific details about our week, upcoming cycle days, and homework, please check the link for the newsletters!

We had a terrific first week! I am very impressed with how smoothly our week went! I am so excited to get to know your children better! Our big focus this week was on routines and getting to know our classmates. See if your child can tell you about a new friend. Ask them to tell you about our white board routine as well! (Listen, think, write, show, erase)

Enjoy the long weekend! I look forward to talking to you soon! :)
